Different modes of playing
There are 5 different modes of playing in valorant. They are : Unrated, Competitive, Swiftplay, Spike Rush, Deathmatch.
- Unrated: The unrated game mode in Valorant is a casual, unranked mode that is designed for players to practice their skills and try out different agents and strategies without worrying about their rank. In this mode, players can queue up alone or with a team of up to five players. The games in the unrated mode do not count towards a player's rank or MMR (Match Making Rating) and are played on the same maps as the competitive mode.
- Competitive: In the competitive mode, players play on the same maps as in the unrated mode, but the gameplay is more intense and strategic. Players need to work together to plant or defuse a spike, protect or attack a site, and win rounds to ultimately win the game. At the end of each match, players are awarded or deducted ranking points depending on the outcome of the match and their individual performance. The more games players win, the higher their rank will be, and they will be matched up against tougher opponents.
- Swiftplay: The game has your typical 5v5 gameplay in a condensed format. The first team to win five rounds wins and each time has a four-round half where it defends for four rounds and attacks for four rounds.
- Spike rush: Teams are split into an offensive and a defensive side with all players on the offensive team receiving a Spike. Ultimately the game is won by planting and detonating the spike or by killing all players on the opposing team. The first team to win four rounds wins the game.
- Deathmatch: a fast-paced mode where players spawn in and play a free-for-all game mode to practice their aim and improve their gunplay skills. First to get 40 kills win.
